Be Open About Your Faith
The Bible tells us that when we accept Christ, he pulls us out of the darkness and gives us His light. We are also called to share that light with others. “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light shine before men, and they may see. Your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16. As God’s children, he blesses us and gives us his grace. By sharing your story and testimony with others, you can share how God has taken you out of the darkness and into His light. This can give hope to nonbelievers and help them to accept Christ as their Lord.
Ask God to Give You Opportunities to Share Your Faith
If you are looking for effective evangelism strategies, asking God to give you the opportunity is an excellent place to start. God knows where he can use you and whom you can help lead to Christ. Spend time in prayer and ask God to use you to bless others around you. Here is a prayer you can say daily, asking God for those opportunities, “Lord, I come to you with thanks for the grace and blessings you have given me. Help me to be a light in the world and help me to lead others to know and have a relationship with you.”
Look For Those in The Red Zone
In football, the last twenty yards before the goal is called the red zone, the last area a team must go through before making a touchdown. When evangelizing to others, we want to look for people who are spiritually in the red zone. Someone spiritually in the red zone means God has already placed that person at a point in their life where they are ready to enter into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. One of the most effective evangelism strategies is to look for those in the red zone and help them to cross the line into faith. People in the Red Zone who want a relationship with Christ but for many reasons are still determining how to make that leap of faith. We can find those in the red zone and share the prayer of salvation with them to help lead them to Christ.
Work On Being a Good Listener
When evangelizing to others, focus and listen to what that person is saying. If you are speaking to someone in the red zone in the final stretches of their commitment, let them talk about any needs or concerns they may have. Let them share what they are going through if they are struggling. Work on finding out other people’s needs, so you can share with them how the Lord can meet those needs. You can then share all Christ can do for them if they accept Him into their lives.
Follow Up with Whom You’ve Planted Seeds With
Remember, you are not the one who is changing someone’s heart, God is using you to lead others to Him. He will do the rest. Not everyone we evangelize to will come to Christ the first time we talk to them. Make sure to honor the person you are talking to if they are not ready to commit to Christ. Rest assured that God will continue to work on them. By sharing the word of God, you can plant a seed in their heart so that God can grow into a relationship. Pray for the individuals you have shared with and follow up with them to help get them through the red zone.
